Understanding the Tortolì coastline
The coast changes quickly south of Arbatax. Porto Frailis is a compact urban bay; San Gemiliano opens towards broader sandy shores; Basaura leads into the Orrì system, followed by Foxi Lioni, Musculedda and Cala Ginepro. Cea marks the southern end with pale sand and red porphyry.
Facilities, parking and lifeguard services are partly seasonal. Use the names of individual beach sections when navigating and follow signs at the chosen access point.
The southern landmark
Cea Beach
Cea deserves a separate plan. Most of its long sandy shore lies in Tortolì, while the southern section belongs to Bari Sardo. Shallow water and the red sea stacks make it both practical and highly recognisable.
Access
Reach it from the SS125 signed turn or continue along the coastal road from Orrì. Select the parking area before choosing the final approach.

The sandy entry is shallow in many sections, but wind and sea conditions still need to be assessed each day.
North to south
Orrì, Basaura, Foxi Lioni and Musculedda
These names describe different parts of a connected coastal landscape rather than identical beaches. Orrì offers the broadest choice of sandy sections and services; moving south, granite rocks and smaller coves become more visible.
Lido di Orrì
Fine pale and golden sand, clear water and a gently sloping seabed in the main areas. The principal beach has parking and seasonal food and rental services.
Basaura
A broad sandy section between Sos Flores and Orrì. Regional information identifies an equipped dog area; rules and seasonal operation should be checked.
Foxi Lioni
Very pale sand, dunes and flat granite rocks. Parking, refreshments, rentals, children’s play areas and accessible entry are reported in the main sections.
Musculedda
A smaller stretch between Foxi Lioni and Cala Ginepro, where sand, granite and Mediterranean vegetation meet. Do not rely on facilities without checking locally.

San Gemiliano and Porto Frailis
San Gemiliano is a sandy bay below the coastal tower, with shallow water and several visitor services. Porto Frailis is a smaller arc-shaped bay within Arbatax, edged by smooth granite and backed by accommodation and restaurants.

Parking, accessible entry, refreshments and seasonal rental services are reported. The sandy shallow seabed makes it a common family choice.
Porto Frailis
Fine silver-gold sand and a gently sloping seabed in a sheltered setting. Official visitor information describes parking as limited.
